KVH has confirmed several reports of Israeli Shemita produce and flowers at various retailers and restaurant supply stores in the Greater Boston Area.
Stores where Israeli produce items (including peppers, carrots, grapefruits,
persimmons, and flowers) have been sighted include:
Wegman’s
Stop & Shop
Star Market
Roche Bros
Restaurant Depot
The sightings have been sporadic but may increase over time.
Purchasing Israeli produce presents challenges during regular years and one must
be mindful to separate terumos and ma’asros. During the shemita year, one is
prohibited from benefiting from produce grown or sold in violation of shemita,
nor may it be disposed.
