Congregation Chai Odom is happy to announce that the annual burning of the chametz will once again take place this year at the Brighton Fire station. This will take place Friday March 26th, starting at approximately 8:00 am at the Brighton fire station, 138 Chestnut Hill Ave. The fire will be going until 11:00 am.
Please note: although sof zman biur this year is on Shabbos, the fire will be extinguished at 11:00 am.
Please note the following guidelines:
– At the request of the fire station, please park on Chestnut Hill Ave, or nearby side streets. The fire station lot will not be available for parking.
– ABSOLUTELY NO PLASTIC, OR ALUMINUM FOIL SHOULD BE THROWN INTO THE FIRE. This smothers the fire and also releases toxic fumes. Also only limit burning to dry, low density chametz, NO FROZEN CHALLAH OR PASTA SHOULD BE THROWN IN THE FIRE as they do not burn, and rather smother the fire.
– Please observe appropriate social distancing guidelines and be respectful of others.
A garbage dumpster will be available to dispose of any chametz that cannot be burned, but due to limited dumpster space, please refrain from bringing all of your household trash, and limit this strictly to chametz that requires disposal. Please do not leave trash and litter in the fire station parking lot.
We would like to thank the city of Boston and the Brighton Fire station for aiding us in completion of this mitzvah.
We wish you all a Chag Kasher V’Sameach!
